It sounds like something AI would come up with if you asked it to write the gayest headline ever. But it really happened. You’ve got legendary LGBTQIA+ icons Kylie and Madonna singing together, and their song choice? Gloria Gaynor’s disco hit, I Will Survive, of course!

Madonna has been performing across the US and Europe on her Celebration Tour, which landed in Inglewood, CA where a surprise guest joined her on stage. Kylie Minogue and Madonna have enjoyed meteoric success in their respective careers, but this is the first time the two artists have performed together.

SURVIVORS

Bringing out Minogue, Madonna amped up the energy in her crowd by teasing their duet. “Now, this is what we call a survivor,” Madonna said, introducing Minogue to the elated roars of her audience. “It’s a privilege for me to be up hear singing with you. You’re a fighter, too, God bless you, never give up,” she said.

The pair began singing an acoustic version of Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive while the crowd shone their phone torches, lighting up the arena. Afterwards, Minogue stayed on stage while Madonna and the crowd sang an abridged version of Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.

The singer has since posted a clear tour video of the duet to her Instagram where you can relive the magic.

The show was also plagued by a whoopsie moment from the star when she asked a fan why they were sitting down only to realise they were in a wheelchair. “What are you doing sitting down over there? What are you doing sitting down?” she asked. “Oh, okay. Politically incorrect, sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here.”
