Lukas Gage: “My Gay Awakening Started With A Neighbour!”

Actor Lukas Gage (The White Lotus, Dead Boy Detectives, Downlow and the new Road House) just dropped some major truth bombs about his coming-out journey. In an episode of the podcast Seek Treatment, he spilled the tea on everything from his “closeted surfer boy” days to having a three-year relationship with a neighbour.

The Moment Of Truth During An Unexpected Audition

The discussion took a deep dive when Gage recounted a pivotal audition for Sofia Coppola’s planned but never-realised live-action film, The Little Mermaid. He was asked to share something vulnerable about himself, which unexpectedly brought his hidden feelings to the surface. Gage described how, during the audition, he broke down and revealed his relationship with his neighbour, a secret he had kept hidden from everyone, including his family.

From Neighbours To Partners: A Three-Year Relationship

Gage detailed how his relationship evolved from casual hangouts, listening to records and playing PlayStation, to a romantic relationship that lasted three years. This relationship was a significant part of his journey toward self-acceptance. He noted that his neighbour, now living in New York with a boyfriend, was not the “daddy” type but more of a “bro.”

A Supportive Family And The Path Forward

After the emotional audition, Gage called his mother, leading to a supportive and heartwarming response that culminated in a dinner outing where they took on a spicy food challenge together. This moment highlighted the importance of family support in his coming-out journey.

Later in the podcast, Gage was asked to reflect on his past, present, and future selves. He described his past self as a “deeply conflicted, closeted little troublemaker” and his present self as someone deeply engaged in personal growth, specifically mentioning his engagement with The Artist’s Way, a tool for artistic recovery.

Discussing his current relationship status, Gage expressed enjoyment in his newfound freedom, though he remains open to the possibility of relationships. He shared insights into his dating life, preferring real-life interactions over apps, with Instagram being an occasional exception.

Celebrity Crushes and Personal Preferences

Ending on a lighter note, Gage revealed his celebrity crush, Colin Farrell, appreciating his Irish and Scottish roots, which he finds particularly appealing.
