Bryce And Zach’s Girth Check Is The “Love Island USA” Moment Everyone’s Replaying

The straightest show on television keeps making the gayest content of the year. Love Island USA season 8 is meant to be boy-meets-girl, but the pairing everyone is talking about is two of the boys.

Bryce Dettloff and Zach Georgiou walked into the villa on day one, and the queer internet has not looked away since.

The latest escalation has a name. Fans are calling it the “girth check.” In the Friday 19 June episode, Bryce showed Zach his, let’s say, assets, and Zach gave a glowing review, calling it “a snake” and “long,” according to People.

The clip did the rounds within hours.

The Challengers of it all

If the dynamic feels familiar, you have Luca Guadagnino to thank. The Bryce and Zach situation plays like a reality remake of Challengers, the 2024 film where two men orbit one woman and clearly cannot stop orbiting each other.

Bombshell Kayda coupled up with Zach, Bryce settled in as the permanent third wheel, and nobody seems to mind. Vulture ran a piece titled “Love Island USA should go full Challengers.”

The fan edits have pulled in millions of views.

It is not only the boys. A challenge kiss between Melanie Moreno and Trinity Tatum racked up 6.6 million views. On a Pride-month season hosted by Ariana Madix, the homoerotic energy is doing numbers.

The first three episodes set a Peacock record at 824 million minutes viewed, the platform’s biggest original season yet.

Here is the honest bit. Neither Bryce nor Zach has come out, and neither has suggested anything romantic is happening. This is playful speculation, not a coming-out, and that line is worth keeping clear. The simplest read might also be the funniest.

As one viewer, RunnerEye, put it: “The Love Island community is experiencing straight teenage male behaviour for the first time.”

Sound familiar? Most of us have known a pair of mates exactly like that. Two comfortable lads, a lot of skin, and an audience reading into every glance. A bromance with this much eye contact is rare prime-time fun.
