Lil Nas X: “Stop Doing Poppers At My Show!”
Lil Nas X has kicked off his Long Live Montero tour in North America where he has a message for his fans: stop doing poppers!
The singer took to Twitter with his classic brand of tongue-in-cheek wit saying, “You do not need your asshole relaxed to see me perform Industry Baby,” reports Queerty.
THE RESPONSES HAVE BEEN… MIXED
Lil Nas X mostly caters his music for three groups; the girls, the gays and the theys. It makes sense that this cohort would be intimately familiar with poppers (aka jungle juice or amyl). It’s standard protocol to have a bottle on-hand at the club, at a rave, during a festival and for other night-based extracurriculars.
After a TikTok video was posted on Lil Nas X’s feed, it is evident that children are in attendance during the tour. In the video, Nas brings his nephew up on stage to dance, which is an adorable moment, but a salient reminder that despite his content being mature, the tour will have minors in the audience.
Fans on Twitter have responded to his request with the same tenor of cheekiness that the singer brings with every new tweet and song. Some are outright denying his request, some are clapping back while the majority simply make jokes.
During the show in Atlanta, Lil Nas X had a reported bathroom break but he kept his microphone plugged in. You can hear him off stage say to his audience that he’ll be about three minutes because he’s “taking a mean sh*t”.
Perhaps the acrid fumes of a hundred poppers wafted across the stage loosening up Lil Nas X a little too much; the poppers ban would make a lot of sense if so.
