Lil Nas X Does Carpool Karaoke With James Corden… And It’s Blessedly Not That Cringe!
Just when you thought it was difficult to love groundbreaking singer Lil Nas X – aka Montero – any more, he does a Carpool Karaoke with James Corden. And it’s both endearing and brilliantly funny.
After eyeing up a “hot” guy on the street, Lil Nas X discusses his dating life. He reveals he has used the celebrity dating app Raya but also that he has now stopped using it as he prefers to meet people in person and isn’t into dating celebrities (although he won’t name names, frustratingly / understandably!)
The pair belt his hits Ol Town Road, Industry Baby, That’s What I Want and Montero (Call Me By Your Name) from the car with Corden, as always, word perfect. They’ve even learnt some joint dance moves they perform together. It sounds cringe but is actually endearing, especially given the comical height difference.
Another endearing moment occurs when Corden compliments Lil Nas on his bejewelled crucifix top. The singer says he’s “having a woman of God moment” but asks who Mary Magdalene is when Corden makes the comparison.
After confessing ambitions to be an actor, Corden scores them cameos in The Bold And The Beautiful but the pair have to keep repeating the scene because Corden keeps making Lil Nas laugh. It’s genuinely funny and will go up there as one of the best episodes in the much-loved series.
