Leo Woodall Discusses His “The White Lotus” Intimate Scene With Tom Hollander
Leo Woodall became the centre of attention with his unforgettable role as the bad boy in The White Lotus season two. While he’s now starring in Netflix’s One Day, it’s his jaw-dropping scene with Tom Hollander’s character Quentin from White Lotus that people are still buzzing about.
If you watched the show, you probably remember the gorgeous Sicilian landscapes and the wild plot twists. But, let’s be honest, nothing was more shocking than when Jack (Leo’s character) and Quentin were caught in that moment.
In The White Lotus season two, Leo played Jack, a fun, flirty Essex guy who teams up with Quentin to distract Tanya’s assistant, Portia. On-screen, Jack seems like your classic cheeky chappie but things take a surprising turn when Tanya (played by Jennifer Coolidge) accidentally walks in on Jack and Quentin mid-hookup.
It was one of the most talked-about moments of the year. Even Leo admitted the scene took him by surprise. Speaking to Variety, he said, “When I found out about the scene, I was speechless for a while. I’m such a huge fan of Tom, and when I heard he was playing my uncle, I thought, ‘Wow.’ Then I found out I was going to shag him, too – well, that was surreal.”
How Do You Even Film A Scene Like That?
Filming intimate scenes isn’t always as glamorous as it looks. It’s pretty awkward to act out moments like this in front of a camera. But for Leo, the experience was made easier by working with a closed set and a talented intimacy coordinator.
“When I found out I was doing it, I couldn’t speak for ten seconds. Then I thought, ‘That’s a brilliant moment.’ Sex scenes are weird to do, but at some point, you just have to go with it,” Leo said in an interview with The Sunday Times Style Magazine.
The careful planning behind the scene helped make sure it was done right, not just for the actors but for the audience watching.
