Kit Williamson Brings Queer Chaos To The Screen In “Unconventional”
Kit Williamson, known for his roles in EastSiders and Mad Men, is back with a new TV show that’s got everyone talking. The project, Unconventional, is set to make waves in the LGBTQIA+ entertainment scene.
What’s the Buzz About “Unconventional”?
Unconventional follows a group of queer folks navigating life’s ups and downs. Williamson wears multiple hats in this production: he’s director, producer and star. The show picks up where EastSiders left off, giving us more of the content we crave.
Williamson shared with Pride, “I love gay shenanigans! Unconventional is a dark comedy about two eccentric gay siblings and their significant others trying to start a family.” He plays a character who’s donating sperm to his sister’s girlfriend. But, of course, things don’t go as planned.
Spicing Things Up On and Off Screen
We’re in for a treat with this show. It’s not just about family making, Williamson’s character and his partner explore threesomes and polyamory. “People have sex! That’s a part of life,” Williamson points out. He’s right, isn’t he? It’s refreshing to see these topics addressed on screen.
Unconventional promises to be a laugh riot. With drag queen Willam Belli and comedy icon Kathy Griffin in the mix, how could it not be? Williamson’s enthusiasm is contagious: “You gotta cast drag queens and Kathy Griffin! I’ll write something for Willam in everything I ever do.”
Mark your calendars! Unconventional premieres on Tuesday, 11 February, on Revry.
We all need a good laugh these days, don’t we? And who better to deliver it than a cast that gets us? As Williamson says, “Everybody, at some point in their life, has been a complete and total mess.” Isn’t that the truth?
