“We shot the sex scenes for about seven hours!” – Kit Connor dishes on the show’s spicy new direction.

The hit Netflix series Heartstopper has captured hearts with its sweet, PG-rated portrayal of Charlie and Nick’s blossoming romance. But as the show enters its third season, things are about to heat up.

Joe Locke, who plays Charlie, recently hinted that the upcoming episodes will explore the couple’s sexual relationship. “The show is growing up,” he told Variety. “The second half of the season is about sex.”

Now, Kit Connor, who plays Nick, is spilling even more tea. In an interview with the Times, he revealed that filming the intimate scenes took a whopping seven hours. “We shot a lot of footage for them,” he said. “Not much actually ended up in the show. But we shot the sex scenes for about seven hours!”

Despite the long hours, Kit and Joe’s comfort with each other made the experience more manageable. The show’s intimacy coordinator, who has been with them since Season 1, helped guide them through the process. “We’ve been taking baby steps,” Kit explained. “Season 1, he would be there making sure that we were comfortable holding hands. And now we’re doing the sex scenes.”

After wrapping up the steamy shoot, the cast unwound in the most relatable way possible: by collapsing on the sofa in someone’s apartment and enjoying a meal together. “If someone was finishing a bit earlier, they would cook, or we’d get a delivery — it was lovely,” Kit shared.

As the series grows up, fans can expect a more realistic portrayal of teen relationships while still maintaining the show’s signature charm and heart.
