Kit Connor Has Grown A Beard – Boy To Man!
Kit Connor (Heartstopper) stepped out at the 28th British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) in London on November 30, and he looked very different. Gone is the fresh-faced rugby lad we fell in love with on Netflix. In his place stands a bona fide leading man sporting a thick, rugged beard that officially signals his graduation from teen heartthrob to serious screen presence.

The internet is spiralling
Social media went into immediate meltdown. It is a massive departure from the clean-shaven look Kit maintained for three seasons of Heartstopper. We have watched him grow up on screen, but this facial hair feels like the final severance from his schoolboy character, Nick Nelson.
He walked the red carpet alongside his Warfare co-stars Will Poulter, Charles Melton and Joseph Quinn. It was a lot of handsome for one photo. The quartet looked like the ultimate boy band, but Kit’s scruffy aesthetic pulled the focus.
Warfare takes home the gold
The new look was fitting for the night. Kit was there to celebrate the success of Warfare, the A24 military drama written and directed by Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza. The film swept the technical categories. It won Best Editing, Best Effects and Best Sound.

But the big moment came when Kit and the cast accepted the award for Best Ensemble Performance. It validates what we already knew. Kit is a powerhouse performer capable of holding his own against industry heavyweights like Will Poulter. The beard might be for style, or it might be a remnant of the gruelling shoot, but it suits the mature direction his career is taking.
Life after Truham Grammar
This rugged evolution arrives at a poignant time. Heartstopper Forever, finale film, wrapped production back in July 2025 and will likely see us all crying in cinemas when it releases. Seeing Kit look this grown-up makes the end of the series feel even more final. The Truham uniform has been hung up for good.
A dark winter ahead
So is the beard here to stay? It seems likely. Kit is currently filming A Long Winter with director Andrew Haigh. Haigh is famous for extracting raw, emotional performances in queer cinema classics like All Of Us Strangers and Weekend.
The film is a harrowing family drama set during a snowstorm in the American suburbs. The scruffy look fits the bill for a character enduring a harsh winter. We are ready to see Kit tackle darker, grittier material.
We loved the golden retriever energy of his early years. But if this bearded, brooding era is what comes next, we are certainly not complaining.
