What sets them apart? It’s the genuine friendship that extends beyond their on-screen roles. In an exclusive interview with PinkNews, the duo opened up about their partnership, the global impact of Thai BL dramas, and how they’re helping reshape LGBTQIA+ representation in entertainment.
When did the magic start?
The chemistry between Joss and Gawin seems effortless, but, according to Gawin, it wasn’t always that way. Before My Golden Blood, the two barely knew each other. Their connection developed through shared interests, particularly their love of sports, and a willingness to be vulnerable with one another.
“I feel really lucky to be working with this guy because, before My Golden Blood, we didn’t really know each other that well. To connect with him, we have a lot of things in common,” Gawin told PinkNews.
Their relationship has grown into something fans can sense both on screen and off. Gawin’s musical talents earned him the nickname The Voice of GMMTV, and Joss had admired him from afar before they were paired together. Now, they’re inseparable.

What makes JossGawin different is their refusal to rely solely on aesthetics or manufactured moments. Their approach to storytelling centres on real human connection.
“My Golden Blood is basically two people falling in love. And, it doesn’t matter which gender they are, it’s a good romance story,” Gawin explained.
The series resonates because it treats love as universal rather than niche. Gawin embraces his role in LGBTQIA+ representation with pride. “I’m happy to be a part of the community and if someone sees us as representing the community, then I’m happy with it because I hope it’s a positive thing.”
Joss echoes this sentiment, praising Thailand’s entertainment industry, particularly GMMTV, for normalising LGBTQIA+ narratives. “What Thailand and GMMTV has been doing with the Boys’ Love genre has been normalizing this community. We’re very proud to be a part of that movement, that community, and that we can show the variety and the differences, that we can be different, but still understand each other and support each other,” Joss added.

Why does their friendship matter so much?
For Joss, the connection with Gawin transcends public perception. Fans may know them as Mark and Tong, or even as the ship name JossGawin, but what matters most is their bond as individuals.
“I’m grateful to be working with him. People start to recognise us as not just as Mark and Tong but as JossGawin. We appreciate that but, at the end of the day, what matters to me is what’s between us. Our relationship, our friendship, is what I care about the most,” Joss shared with PinkNews.
He continued, “What matters to me is what we have, and as long as we understand each other, we have our boundaries, and hang out with each other, and we still have the same goal, same values.”
Gawin appreciates how Joss has adapted to their partnership over time. “Over time, as we continued working together, I noticed that he became more flexible, both with work and with our relationship. I really appreciate that because I didn’t expect him to adapt that way. Our personalities are quite different but that’s actually what makes things work between us,” Gawin said.

What’s next for the dynamic duo?
The future looks bright for JossGawin. Their upcoming project, Only Friends: Dream On, will showcase new dimensions of their acting abilities. For Joss, playing a younger character has been refreshing. “It was fun to play a younger character and bring that inner child in me.”
Gawin’s ambitions extend beyond acting. He’s been honing his musical skills and dreaming bigger.
“I really want to write my own stuff. I’ve been practicing guitar a lot, been experimenting with music. My dream is to have a studio of my own.”
