Josh Stein Elected As North Carolina’s First Jewish Governor, Defeats ‘Black Nazi’ Mark Robinson
Democrat Josh Stein has made history as the first Jewish governor of North Carolina, defeating Republican candidate Mark Robinson, Fox News reports. Stein, the state’s Attorney General, ran on a platform of unity and progress, contrasting sharply with Robinson’s divisive rhetoric.
Thank you, North Carolina! I am honored to serve as your next governor. Tonight, we came together to resoundingly embrace a vision that is optimistic, forward-looking, and welcoming. I couldn't have done this without each of you. pic.twitter.com/3eeGGTVHed

In his victory speech, Stein celebrated North Carolina’s choice for a brighter future. “We chose hope over hate. Competence over chaos. Decency over division. That’s who we are as North Carolinians,” Stein said. He emphasized his commitment to creating opportunities for all residents, regardless of background.
As Attorney General, Stein worked to clear the state’s backlog of untested sexual assault kits and led a national settlement with drug companies over their role in the opioid epidemic. He has also defended healthcare rights and opposed restrictions on abortion.
Serving as your Governor has been the honor of a lifetime. And tonight, we elected @JoshStein_ to keep moving us forward. He has the steady hand, the clear-eyed vision, and the servant’s heart to help make North Carolina stronger than ever. pic.twitter.com/LpdZgpr9SC

Controversy Surrounding Mark Robinson
Robinson, the current lieutenant governor, has been widely criticised for his inflammatory comments. He referred to himself as a “Black Nazi” and made derogatory remarks about the LGBTQIA+ community. His campaign faced further scrutiny after a CNN report linked him to a profile on a pornography website where he made racist and offensive comments.
My opponent and the media will constantly tell you “Mark Robinson is mean.” “Mark Robinson isn’t nice.” “Mark Robinson yells too much.”

Now is NOT the time for nice.
Now is the time for BOLD. Now is the time for UNAPOLOGETIC. Now is the time for ACTION.

Despite his controversial views, Robinson maintained a significant following but ultimately fell short against Stein’s message of unity and progress.
Stein’s victory represents a significant moment for North Carolina, a state with a rich history of social progress. “This is our North Carolina, this is our home,” Stein declared. As the state’s governor, Stein is expected to continue his work on healthcare, justice, and equality.
His win is seen as a rejection of divisive politics and a step towards a more inclusive and forward-looking future for the state.
