Joe Locke Reveals His Fitness Goals And His Celebrity Crush – Henry Cavill

Joe Locke in Heartstopper (Netflix) and Henry Cavill in The Man from U.N.C.L.E (Warner Bros.)

The star of Heartstopper recently opened up about his fitness journey, dream roles, and personal tastes during an honest chat with Dylan Mulvaney on The Dylan Hour podcast.

Joe Locke has set his sights on new career goals. The young actor, known for his role in the hit series Heartstopper, shared his future acting plans with podcast host Dylan Mulvaney. Unlike many of his current roles, Locke wants to branch out into action films.

“I want to play a really macho straight man in an action film,” Locke told Mulvaney during their conversation. “My dream would be to get paid a shit ton of money to get really ripped. I just can’t be bothered to organise it all.”

This isn’t new territory for Locke. In a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone UK, he expressed similar interests. “I’d love to be in an action film, do something really macho, but in my way, not necessarily the most macho way,” he shared at that time.

Locke discussed how he’s now working with a personal trainer to help achieve his physical goals. He admitted to past hesitations about gym environments.

“I [was worried I] would be judged in that space,” Locke confessed about his previous reluctance to visit gyms.

His current fitness aims seem both professional and personal. With characteristic honesty, Locke shared a more immediate physical goal: “I’m trying to get my ass bigger this year, so maybe this is the year that I wear a speedo.”

Celebrity Crushes and Clarifications

When Mulvaney suggested Locke’s type might be “a little older, maybe a little taller, a little buffer,” the actor agreed simply, “I like a man.” He later admitted his celebrity crush is Henry Cavill.

Locke also took time to clear up past misunderstandings about his career aspirations. Contrary to some reports, he doesn’t have his sights set on playing James Bond.

“Not James Bond. I got caught saying I wanted to play James Bond by… someone. An unnamed reporter. And it really annoyed me,” Locke explained. “You put those words in my mouth. I never said that. You said, ‘Would you like to play James Bond?’ and I said, ‘Mm, whatever, sure.'”

What does the future hold for this talented young actor? While we don’t know which action roles might come his way, his willingness to transform physically for new characters shows his commitment to growth as a performer.
