Jim Parsons And Ben Aldridge Star In ‘Spoiler Alert’ As Star-Crossed Lovers
Focus Features has released a trailer for Spoiler Alert, a romantic drama starring The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and Pennyworth’s Ben Aldridge. The film is a biographical telling of journalist Michael Ausiello’s experience losing his partner to cancer, reports Variety.

Spoiler Alert may be one of the first occasions we get to see Jim Parson’s in a romantic lead role where he plays a gay man. Both Aldridge and Parsons, who play the title characters, are gay in real life.
Directed by Michael Showalter, this is a true story written by Michael Ausiello following the loss of his partner Kit Cowan. The plot was adapted for screen by David Marshall Grant and Dan Savage and follows the last year of Cowan’s life after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Typically, gay romantic dramas that end in tragedy fall within the disturbing kill-your-gay trope. But Spoiler Alert doesn’t seek to romanticise the loss, but rather celebrate the love. It will certainly evoke many tears come December 16 when it has its international release.
