Jean Carlo Salazar Aims For Mister USA 2025 Crown While Saving Lives
Jean Carlo Salazar spends most days steering critically ill patients through 12‑hour shifts in intensive care. After clock‑off, he swaps hospital crocs for runway shoes and trains for the Mister USA 2025 finals. The 26‑year‑old represents Connecticut and hopes to prove that “male excellence” is more than abs and a perfect jawline.
From Medellín to modelling and medicine.
Salazar was born in Colombia and moved to the United States at ten. Citizenship came in 2018, followed by a psychology degree at Southern Connecticut State University and a nursing degree at the University of Connecticut. A recruiter spotted his Instagram shots, and a modelling career took off. Despite magazine covers and fashion gigs, he kept nursing at the centre of his life, calling the job “the backbone of my purpose”.
What male excellence means in 2025.
Mister USA judges weigh physique, talent, social advocacy and a personal story that matters. Salazar’s resume includes ICU nursing, a Master’s program in psychiatric mental‑health nursing, and open advocacy for healthcare access and mental‑wellbeing. “They’re truly looking for people who do advocacy work. That’s why I want to bring my unique story,” he explained to Instinct Magazine. He also wants the spotlight on understaffed wards and overworked nurses, saying, “I want to raise awareness about how nurses are a catalyst to the healthcare industry”.
Voting now open, finals set for 30 August.
The Mister USA stage lights up the Universal Hollywood Hilton in Los Angeles on 30 August. The winner pockets 50,000 USD and advances to Mister Universe in November. Two contestants will enter the Top 10 through public votes on the official Mister USA portal, and Salazar is currently climbing that leaderboard.
