Jacob Elordi Sizzles In Secret Gay Romance “On Swift Horses” — Get Your First Look!

Diego Calva and Jacob Elordi in On Swift Horses (Sony Entertainment).

We told you about this hot new film back in February, but now we’ve got more details about the much-anticipated romantic drama. On Swift Horses brings Jacob Elordi and Diego Calva together in a 1950s love story that’s both tender and bold.

A Steamy Cast Brings 1950s Love Story to Life

Set after the Korean War, this film follows Muriel (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and her husband Lee (Will Poulter) as they start fresh in California. Their plans hit a snag when Lee’s brother Julius (Jacob Elordi) shows up. Julius has a secret – he likes men.

The story takes us to Las Vegas, where Julius works at a casino and falls for his coworker Henry (Diego Calva). Their connection forms the heart of this film. Back in California, Muriel starts betting on horses and grows close to her neighbor Sandra (Sasha Calle).

Both plots show people finding their true selves in a time when society had strict rules about who you could love.

Love, Secrets, and Finding Yourself

On Swift Horses isn’t just about romance. It digs into how people hid parts of themselves in the 1950s. The film shows how hard it was for LGBTQIA+ folks during that time.

Director Daniel Minahan adapted this story from Shannon Pufahl’s 2019 novel. The film tackles big themes – love, secrecy, and finding your place when the world tells you that you don’t belong.

We’re excited to see such a well-known cast in a film that puts LGBTQIA+ stories front and center. It’s rare to see period pieces that show our history with such care and top talent.

When Can You Watch This Much-Needed Film?

On Swift Horses had its first showing at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2024. For those in the US, mark your calendars for April 25, 2025. Australian release dates are still to come, but we’ll keep you posted.

The trailer shows the tension and passion between Elordi and Calva, set against the backdrop of 1950s America. Their chemistry feels real and raw. In a time when LGBTQIA+ films often focus on coming out stories, this one looks at how people found love in secret spaces.

Keep an eye out for more updates on this film that’s sure to be both a critical hit and a fan favourite. With its strong cast and vital story, On Swift Horses looks set to be one of 2025’s must-watch films.
