Jack Sullivan – Why We Are Loving This Gay New York Comic

Jack Sullivan (IG/@jacksullivancomedy)

Jack Sullivan is a New York stand-up comedian, out and proud, whose sassy crowd work and social media clapbacks have made him one of the most-watched queer comics right now. He is tall, funny and sober, and yes, there is an underwear-modelling portfolio too, which is a lot of threats for one man to carry.

His crowd work clips pull big numbers on TikTok and Instagram, where his following runs about 97 per cent men, and one set explains why. The looks reel you in. The material keeps you there.

Who Is Jack Sullivan?

He was born and raised in Washington DC, he has Cuban heritage, and he has called New York home for eight years. He got sober before he ever picked up a mic, then started stand-up about three and a half years ago. His leather-pants look has won him fans, and his home rooms include the Greenwich Village Comedy Club and Broadway Comedy Club.

In April, he headlined his first full hour, The Perfect Date! at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on the night of his 35th birthday. The title is a wink at Miss Congeniality.

After a month-long tour in June, Jack settled back into his New York venues. At an early-July show he took aim at Pride, and the clip spread fast, first flagged by Instinct.

He said: “During Pride a protestor said, ‘you have a mental illness,’ so I replied, ‘you’re telling me I get two Prides?!’ Mental Health Awareness Month. Imagine that parade. I can picture the floats. Twinks with Tourette’s. Bottoms Who Binge Eat. One way or another, they’ll be stuffed.”

Where Can You See Jack Sullivan?

He plays mostly around New York, with the odd trip out to Rhode Island, Florida and Miami. He has also met the A*Teens, which is its own kind of iconic. If you want a show near you, his socials are the place to look. Follow @jacksullivancomedy, and try to keep up.
