Netflix has shared the first-look photos for Heartstopper Forever, the final chapter in the franchise based on Alice Oseman’s books, with the film set to drop on Netflix on Friday 17 July 2026. The images, posted on 27 May via Netflix UK’s Instagram and TikTok, show Kit Connor and Joe Locke back as Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring, looking exactly as inseparable as fans remember.

Back to school, back to feelings

Set after the events of season three, Heartstopper Forever picks up with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding his footing without him. The official synopsis frames it plainly: “the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet.” Friends from the wider cast also feature, with the film exploring first love at the moment it has to grow up.

Kit and Joe step up as executive producers

Connor and Locke are both executive producers on the film, a first for them on the franchise. “These characters have meant a lot to us over the years,” Connor told Netflix’s Tudum. “As EPs, it feels like we can really say goodbye to them in a way that feels the most right.” Olivia Colman does not return as Nick’s mum Sarah Nelson, with Anna Maxwell Martin taking on the role. Alice Oseman, who created the original webcomic and graphic novel series, wrote the screenplay.

Alice Oseman promises a tender send-off

Oseman told Tudum the film would explore “time, memory, love, pain, the changing of the seasons, endings and beginnings, and the core element of Heartstopper: the ordinary magic of our everyday lives.” She also promised a “beautiful and emotional send-off” for Nick and Charlie, plus “many hints of what’s to come in the characters’ future lives.”
