Get Ready For The Gayest “Knives Out” Mystery Yet With “Wake Up, Dead Man”!
The next installment in the Knives Out series is shaping up to be a queer extravaganza. Director Rian Johnson just revealed the title — Wake Up, Dead Man (named after a U2 song). It’s set for a 2025 Netflix release.
While plot details are under wraps, Johnson teased exploring the “whole tonal spectrum” of the malleable whodunnit genre. The eerie teaser hints this may be detective Benoit Blanc’s (Daniel Craig) “most dangerous case yet.”

But the real tea is the cast! Rising heartthrob Josh O’Connor (God’s Own Country, Challengers) and indie darling Cailee Spaeny (Civil War, Priscilla) are confirmed. Fingers crossed O’Connor goes gay again, maybe as Blanc’s dashing apprentice?
“Wake Up, Dead Man” Adds More Queer Firepower With Andrew Scott
Ripley, Fleabag and All Of Us Strangers star Andrew Scott has also signed on! He’s played both heroes and villains masterfully. A suspicious ex-lover of Blanc’s, perhaps?
After Glass Onion confirmed Blanc is gay, we’re hoping this next mystery really explores his love life and identity. More LGBTQIA+ representation, please!
Casting rumours also suggested that Tom Hardy and Lindsay Lohan were considered for the project, but these have been refuted.
