“Get in, Daddy!” Andy Cohen Opens Up About Risky NYC Adventures
Andy Cohen, the charismatic host of Watch What Happens Live, loves a good adventure, especially in the streets of New York City. But his latest confession? Let’s just say it’s raising eyebrows among fans and friends alike.
During a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Cohen admitted he’s not above accepting rides from complete strangers.
“I will accept a ride from a stranger,” Cohen declared, seemingly unbothered by the risks you might expect. “There have been times where I couldn’t find a cab, and someone pulled over and said, ‘Andy Cohen, where are you going?’ I just hop in.”
What’s more surprising is Cohen’s nonchalant attitude about it all. From truck drivers to random couples, he seems confident that his fans just want to help him out, and maybe strike up a good story along the way.
“Is This the Start of a True Crime Plot?”
Cohen’s long-time buddy and CNN journalist Anderson Cooper was quick to express his disapproval. “It’s crazy,” Cooper said, clearly unsettled by his friend’s carefree willingness to get in cars with strangers. Adding fuel to the fire, Colbert joked, “This is like the opening scene of a Law & Order episode. Does Andy not have the Lyft app?”
Despite their scepticism, Cohen stood his ground. He even shared a recent experience in Miami where a Bravo fan passed him a joint, proof, in his eyes, that his people only have good intentions. “They want to get me high, not kill me,” Cohen quipped, brushing off the concerns of his more cautious companions.
Cooper wasn’t buying it. “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard,” he snapped, to which Cohen shot back, “You’re too negative about things.”
It’s the kind of banter that has defined their friendship, with Cooper later taking a playful dig at Cohen’s Real Housewives empire. “You live in a fantasy world where people scream at each other, and everything gets resolved in the end,” said Cooper.
“Well, it does,” Cohen replied with a smirk, wrapping up the light-hearted exchange.
New Year’s Eve: Booze Returns to the CNN Special
The lively conversation didn’t stop there. Cohen also revealed that he and Cooper will be toasting to the New Year with drinks in hand during CNN’s annual live broadcast from Times Square. If you recall, 2022 was a drier year for the pair, as the network banned on-air drinking, a move that upset fans who’d grown accustomed to their intoxicating antics.
This year, though, the duo is back to their old ways. According to Cohen, Cooper’s recent on-air mishap, where he was hit by debris during storm coverage, only reinforced the need for a little liquid courage. “What I got [from that situation] was, ‘Andy, you need to serve this man plenty of alcohol on New Year’s because of what he’s been through this year!’” Cohen explained, clearly ready to bring the fun back to the festivities.
And with that, it seems the two friends are gearing up for another unforgettable night in Times Square, complete with boozy laughs and, undoubtedly, some classic Cohen-Cooper chaos.
