From Accidental Instagram Like To Love: Karamo Brown Finds His Prince Charming In Carlos Medel

Karamo Brown (The Reunion)

“I pinch myself every morning because I can’t believe I get to walk this life with such a wonderful, kind, honest, and loving person.” – Karamo Brown

Karamo Brown, the beloved member of the Queer Eye team and talk show host, is celebrating a milestone with his boyfriend, photographer Carlos Medel. The couple have been together for three years, and Brown took to social media to share a slideshow of their love story.

In his post, Brown highlighted the incredible moments they’ve shared: “3 years… 2 daughters 🦮🐕‍🦺[referring to their adorable dogs], 10 counties, 100’s of selfies, 1000 adventures, 20,000 slow dances.” His words are a testament to the love and happiness they’ve found in each other’s company.

Medel, equally smitten, commented on the post, saying, “Happy anniversary my love! I love so much! The happiest 3 years.”

Their love story began in an unexpected way. After Brown’s split from his former fiancé Ian Jordan in late 2020, he briefly explored the dating world and apps. However, it didn’t lead to anything substantial. “I gave them a go while I was single, went all in and did 40 dates in 40 nights and hated every minute,” he told Attitude earlier this year.

Brown met Medel via Instagram, after accidentally liking one of his photos. “The day I deleted Tinder, I went to Instagram and was looking at beauty things. I like to watch makeup and hair things because they relax me, even though I’m bald and he’s a beauty photographer,” Brown told Yahoo.

“We said we were going to have sex, and that was it. We did not,” Brown revealed about their first date. Instead, they stayed up until 6am, “Talking and crying.” This unconventional start laid the foundation for a relationship built on transparency and deep connection.

Three years later, Brown is ready to take the next step. He told Page Six last year that his “biological clock is ticking” and he’s eager to walk down the aisle with Medel.

Brown’s journey to love and happiness hasn’t always been easy. As the first out-gay Black man cast on a reality show in the US when he appeared on The Real World in 2004, the sudden exposure took a toll on his mental health and led to struggles with addiction. However, he turned his life around when he learned he was a father to a 10-year-old boy, Jason, and later adopted Jason’s younger half-brother, Christian.

Happy anniversary, Karamo and Carlos!
