Fire Island Sizzles As Cheyenne Jackson Headlines Cherry Grove This July
Cheyenne Jackson, the Xanadu and Glee favourite who can shift from matinee idol to comic mischief in a breath, has locked in a one-night show at the Ice Palace on Fire Island on Saturday, 26 July.
Jackson broke the internet on 9 July when he posted an Instagram selfie wearing nothing but white briefs and a grin, captioning, “I’m just a boy, standing in front of an algorithm, asking you to buy tickets.” Ticket sales spiked within the hour, according to venue staff.
What to expect.
Give Cheyenne a mic and he delivers Broadway power notes, playful crowd chat, and more than a hint of tease. Set-lists for Fire Island remain under wraps, although insiders tip a mash-up of Once Upon A Mattress, 30 Rock banter, and a cheeky salute to Descendants. Will he work the room with that famous smoulder? We would bet our last espresso martini on it.
The Ice Palace sits at the heart of Cherry Grove, an easy stroll from the ferry and a stone’s throw from the beach. Doors open at 7 pm. The venue advises arriving early. The dance floor doubles as platform seating once the show starts.
For many island regulars this is the first time a Broadway headliner has played such an intimate room since the pandemic. Live music on Fire Island is back in full voice, and Jackson’s appearance signals a season packed with theatre-quality talent.
Hydrate, wear sunscreen, and remember the last ferry leaves early. Jackson’s Instagram comments are already warning that the heat will not only be the weather.
