“Fellow Travelers” Is Coming Out Soon And We Are So Ready For It
Showtime’s Fellow Travelers starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey will be released on Friday, October 27. The limited series stars Bomer and Bailey as star-crossed lovers who spend decades keeping their love a secret. The history of LGBTQIA+ rights in the US is fraught with political firestorms and bitter struggles; amid it all, we watch two men fight to be together.
A Familiar Fight
As clandestine lovers, Bomer and Bailey are set to get steamy behind closed doors at the height of McCarthyism. Their tryst expands into the decades as gay rights liberation swells around them and we are invited, as audiences, to be part of this sweeping love story that’s unashamedly queer.
The series will be helmed by Oscar-nominee Ron Nyswaner who wrote the screenplay from Thomas Mallon’s 2007 novel of the same name. It follows Hawkins Fuller and Tim Laughlin (Bomer and Bailey) who meet while working the political circuit in Washington. The Lavender Scare, a crackdown on queer individuals by the government, frames their relationship. The series boasts a talented cast including Jelani Alladin, Allison Williams and Noah J Ricketts.
With such a rich historical framework, queer love is celebrated through the defiant intimacy of Hawkins and Tim. The show will first stream on Paramount+ on Friday, October 27, followed by its Showtime debut on Sunday, October 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
