UPDATE: Harry Garside’s Ex-Girlfriend Charged With Assaulting The Boxing Star. On July 12, Ashley Ruscoe, ex-girlfriend of Olympic boxer Harry Garside, was arrested in Sydney and charged with domestic-violence related common assault, stalking and intimidating to cause fear or physical harm. The allegations against Ms Ruscoe will be heard in the Downing Centre Local Court on July 19

Olympic boxer Harry Garside has been cleared on charges of domestic assault after allegations were leveraged against him by his former partner in March 2023. Garside’s lawyers were able to produce key evidence and communications which clear Mr Garside of wrongdoing and resulted in the charges being withdrawn, reports Sydney Morning Herald.

Vindication for the young athlete

Harry Garside is the 25-year-old boxer with Olympic accolades in his sight. He was most recently a competitor on the popular Australian reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here where he placed runner-up. On the show, fellow competitors noted how impressed they were with Harry Garside’s insightful conversations and friendly manner.

In an unfortunate twist of events, Garside was accused of domestic violence-related common assault by a former 32-year-old partner. The charges allege that Garside assaulted his former partner between 4pm and 7pm on March 1 in Bellevue Hill, reports Sydney Morning Herald.

Fortunately for Garside, his barristers were able to assist police investigations with crucial evidence which led to a quick acquittal. Barrister Sue Chrysanthou showed video-proof of an altercation between Mr Garside and his accuser where it is reportedly shown that she was the aggressor. Furthermore, evidence was produced showing that threats were made against Garside about making false complaints to police.

After the charges were withdrawn, Garside gave statements outside Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court. He thanks police for their diligence and their efficient investigation. “Last month I returned from South Africa feeling motivated and optimistic. What has occurred since has been personally devastating and a real test of my resilience,” he says. “Today I have been vindicated.”
