Adam Noviello is an LGBTQIA+ singer based in Melbourne/Naarm and they have just released a new single I’ve Never Done This Before.
It’s a moody, electro-house track that features an accompanying visualiser with actor Jakob Ambrose.
All about Adam
Adam released their first single last year but already had a strong background in music. When they graduated from drama school they hoped to pursue a musical theatre career. The first professional production Adam was in was La Cage Aux Folles when they were 21.
Following the covid lockdowns, Adam turned to writing music as a means of escape and expression. “I’d always written music as therapy and it seemed like the best time to put all my energy into making something mine because I didn’t know when I’d be able to do theatre again,” they recently told Marc Andrews in an upcoming interview in DNA.
“I dropped my first single about a year and a half ago now and with every release I feel like the momentum builds and builds. The more stuff I’m putting out there the more it’s getting traction,” they say.
In terms of style, Adam has been compared to Troye Sivan, David Bowie and Lady Gaga. “I’m very influenced by James Blake, Troye Sivan and Lana Del Ray, but love Bowie. I take it as a very great compliment. I remember when I was young, and first saw David Bowie, I realised there is a place where people like that exist.”
I’ve Never Done This Before is about Adam’s first sexual experience with a man. The dreamy vocals and backing build in suspension to the drop. The journey that Adam takes us on with this track is a gentle ride that builds in passion and tempo.
