British Hunk David Tag Gets Naked And Real In Hot New Gay Film “Departures”
British actor David Tag steps out of the soap world and into a bold new role that shows fans a different side of this sought-after star. His new film explores the messy reality of gay relationships with both humour and heart.

Sexy Soap Star Gets Serious
Known for his work on Hollyoaks, Tag now plays Jake in Departures, a comedy-drama that depicts toxic relationships. The film comes from gay British filmmaker Lloyd Eyre-Morgan (EastEnders), who wrote it while nursing his own broken heart.
“I was in a bit of a shitstorm when I wrote this, to be honest,” Eyre-Morgan told Attitude magazine. “There was a lot of change happening in my life, and I was drowning in grief, so I did what any emotionally unstable writer does – I put pen to paper. And somehow, this beautiful chaos was born.”
Hot Airport Hookup Leads to Heart Trouble
The story starts in an airport bar where flight delays lead to an unexpected meeting. Eyre-Morgan plays Benji, a man dealing with heartbreak through drinks and hookups. When he spots the handsome Jake (Tag), he’s surprised to find the attraction goes both ways.
The film moves back and forth in time, showing the high points and low moments of their relationship. Benji’s funny voice-over guides viewers through the story, with animated drawings that bring his thoughts to life on screen.
“Am I Hot Enough For Him?” The Real Talk
While there are plenty of laughs, Departures also deals with serious topics. Benji constantly questions why someone as good-looking as Jake would want him. These doubts lead to self-destructive behaviour and problems with intimacy.
“Benji initially falls for the idea of Jake, his own insecurities convincing him that someone this attractive couldn’t possibly want him,” Eyre-Morgan explains. “But as their relationship unfolds, he becomes addicted to the toxicity itself, mistaking chaos for passion and falling hard for someone who doesn’t treat him well.”

David Tag Strips Down (Literally)
Tag brings depth to Jake, showing he’s more than just a villain. The character has his own issues that prevent him from fully committing to the relationship.
For fans of Tag’s TV work, his performance may come as a surprise, both for his acting range and his comfort with on-screen nudity. Tag even joked about filming the intimate scenes: “Honestly, after a while, running around in a cock sock just feels like breaking in a new pair of underpants… except way breezier.”
Catch It If You Can
Departures makes its world premiere on March 23 at BFI Flare, London’s top LGBTQIA+ film festival. The debut and March 29 screenings are already packed, but tickets for March 30 are still up for grabs. London locals, don’t miss out.
For those elsewhere, patience is needed. Eyre-Morgan has hinted that more festival dates are coming, with hopes for a cinema release before the end of 2025.
Why We’re Excited
Want a film that hits close to home? Departures looks at those relationship mistakes we’ve all made: falling for pretty faces, staying when we should go, and thinking drama means love. Its mix of laughs and tears will speak to anyone who’s had their heart in pieces.
