Brace Yourselves, Heartstopper Fans — Season 3 Is About To Get Real!
Netflix has just released the first images from Heartstopper season three, and it looks like Nick and Charlie are in for an emotional ride. Yesterday (8 July), fans solved a puzzle on social media, unlocking the first-look images on Tudum.
The new images show Nick and Charlie looking stressed and apart, hinting at the challenges they’ll face this season. Fans of Alice Oseman’s graphic novels know that season three will explore Charlie’s mental health, including his struggle with an eating disorder.
But it’s not all tough times ahead. The photos also feature Darcey Olsson (Kizzy Edgell) and Tara Jones (Corinna Brown) looking happier than ever, and Tao Xu (William Gao) and Elle Argent (Yasmin Finney) embracing. Another image shows Charlie being supported by his best friend Isaac Henderson (Tobie Donovan).
A More Mature Season with New Characters
Joe Locke, who plays Charlie, hinted that season three will be more “mature” and “raunchier” than previous seasons. The story will follow Volume Four and Volume Five of Oseman’s graphic novels, focusing on Charlie’s eating disorder and the deepening relationship between Nick and Charlie.
Fans will also meet Oliver Spring, played by Jensen Clayden, who will appear as Charlie and Tori’s younger cousin. “Oliver Spring will be making a small but festive appearance in Season 3 of Heartstopper as a younger cousin of Tori and Charlie. I’m so excited for the fans of the show to meet this beloved character from the comics,” Oseman told Tudum.
As the series nears its end with Volume Six, Oseman shared her bittersweet feelings about saying goodbye to these beloved characters. “I think it’s going to be sad to say goodbye but it’s going to be a beautiful ending, I promise.”
Heartstopper season three premieres on Netflix on Thursday, 3 October.
