Meet The Gay Couple Behind Tennis’s Funniest, Thirstiest Podcast

Paul Munkholm and Billy Hanson. (Youtube/@Ball Boys AFL Fantasy)

Paul Munkholm and Billy Hanson are a couple who love each other and love tennis, in roughly that order. The two gay men turned that double obsession into The Ball Boys, a podcast that breaks down the professional tour the way your group chat would. Expect rivalries, on-court meltdowns, outfit verdicts, and a frank ranking of who is hot.

A podcast for anyone who’s gay for tennis

The premise came from a simple observation. Nearly every gay man they knew was quietly, or not so quietly, obsessed with tennis. So Munkholm and Hanson leaned in. They bill the show as “two gay guys in an LTR… with tennis,” and call themselves “hardcore tennis enthusiasts with soft-core senses of humor.”

The result sits somewhere between sharp sports analysis and a very good gossip session.

Meltdowns, fashion and a Hottie Bracket

Do not expect dry stats. The Ball Boys promises “the ins, outs, tops, bottoms, grunts and groans of professional tennis,” and the hosts deliver. They replay racquet-smashing tantrums, rate the tour’s best and worst looks, and run a recurring Hottie Bracket that does exactly what it sounds like. New episodes land weekly, with games and segments between the analysis.

The two watch every match, and the chemistry of a couple finishing each other’s hot takes is half the draw.

Why it lands

It has been working. The show has been running since 2023, Outsports profiled the pair in March 2025, and it now turns up on best tennis podcast lists heading into 2026. Plenty of gay sports fans have spent years not seeing themselves in the coverage. Two blokes podcasting about Wimbledon and who they fancy is a small, welcome fix for that.

You will find The Ball Boys on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and you might not watch a Grand Slam the same way again.
