Australian Voters Crush Palmer’s Anti-Trans Ads With 90 Per Cent Rejecting “Culture Wars” Tactic

Australians have spoken loud and clear. Recent anti-trans advertisements from Clive Palmer’s latest political venture have received a cold reception. These ads appeared on the front pages of newspapers across the country. However, due to significant backlash, the ads are yet to appear on TV screens despite Palmer’s plans.

What Do Australians Really Think?

New research tells a different story than the one Palmer attempts to sell. A poll by leading research firm Redbridge, commissioned by Equality Australia, reveals striking results. Almost 9 out of 10 Australians oppose politicians using trans issues for political gain.

“While Clive Palmer has unlimited budget to spend, we know these divisive ads are more likely to turn people off than to start the culture war some fringe groups so desperately want,” notes the research.

This raises an important question: why do certain politicians continue tactics that most Australians reject?

Strong Support Across the Board

The numbers speak volumes about Australian values. The research shows continued strong support for the LGBTQIA+ community. When politicians target these communities for political gain, voters respond negatively.

The detailed findings prove this point:

A full 91% of people agree or strongly agree that “trans people should have the freedom and choice to live their lives in the way that makes them happy.”

Support runs deep, with 81% of people agreeing or strongly agreeing that “trans people deserve the same rights and protections as other Australians.”

An impressive 89% of Australians believe “our community deserves to live with dignity and respect.”

How Can We Respond?

We can turn this polling data into positive action. Sharing these research results creates visibility and counters negative messaging. This shows trans friends and family they have widespread support.

Does your social media feed need some positive content? This research provides an excellent opportunity to share facts instead of fear.

The conclusion remains clear: politicians targeting the estimated 1% of Australians who are trans or gender diverse are using a strategy that fails both morally and politically.

As the original message states: “Let’s share far and wide the message to the trans community: we’ve got your back and so do most Australians.”
