Alexander Skarsgård Says A Raunchier “Pillion” Cut Exists
Alexander Skarsgård’s new film Pillion is already getting attention after its festival run. The movie is an unlikely rom-com centred on a gay dom/sub relationship with Skarsgård as a biker who forms a relationship with a quieter man, played by Harry Melling.

While the film already includes nudity and kink, Skarsgård has joked that audiences have not seen the most explicit version.
What was left on the cutting room floor?
During an interview with Variety around the film’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, both Skarsgård and director Harry Lighton confirmed that the original cut was much more sexually explicit. Lighton explained the edits were a creative choice, not a moral one.

“It was purely because I didn’t want to push the audience into feeling they were being deliberately shocked by an image,” he told Variety.
“So, for example, there was one close-up of a dick, a hard dick… like down the barrel of the lens. And after watching the film on that ‘fuck-off’ screen I thought, yeah, cutting it was probably the right decision!”
Skarsgård added his own take on the edits. “There’s definitely a raunchier version of this movie. What you’ve seen is the family-friendly version,” he said. “There’s also the Alexander Skarsgård cut.”

More edits might be coming…
It sounds like further adjustments may be made before the film’s planned US release in February. Lighton mentioned to Variety that he also had to “de-shine” some ejaculation, noting, “Apparently that’s what pushes you over the edge!”
Despite the talk of NSFW material, the team behind Pillion says the film is an endearing coming-of-age story. Harry Melling said this focus on character is what interested him in the project.

“What’s so interesting about it, for me, was how it feels so relatable and familiar, but maybe dealing with a subculture that people aren’t so familiar with,” Melling said. “It was how those two things interplay that I found so fascinating. You were taking romantic comedy tropes and subverting them.”
