He’s ready for your questions.
DNA’s Man of the Year, Mitch Brown, joins the premiere episode of GayFL on JOY 94.9 tonight. The show airs at 6pm AEDT on Wednesday, 10 December.
Brown made history in August 2025 when he came out as bisexual. He became the first male AFL player, current or former, to identify as queer in the sport’s 128-year history publicly.
The former West Coast Eagles defender played 94 games across a decade-long career. He won the club’s Chris Mainwaring Medal in 2012 for his contributions on and off the field.
What is GayFL?
GayFL is a new show on JOY 94.9, Australia’s only LGBTQIA+ radio station. Hosts Chris and Brendan bring footy and queer culture together every Wednesday from 6pm.
“GayFL is our passion, and we love our LGBTQIA+ footy community,” Chris and Brendan told QNews. “We are so proud and excited to be going live on JOY 94.9.”
On having Brown as their first guest, they added: “Having Mitch Brown on our premiere episode is going to be special, and we can’t wait to celebrate queer joy!”
Tune in live on 94.9 FM if you’re in Melbourne. Everyone else can stream online at joy.org.au/player or through the JOY app and iHeartRadio.
