John Cena Was Ready For Anything In That Wild “Peacemaker” Orgy Scene
The second season of Peacemaker has arrived and has wasted no time getting people talking. The premiere episode features star John Cena at the centre of a chaotic bisexual orgy, and the actor has revealed he was prepared to go even further for the role.
Peacemaker is the superhero series from writer and director James Gunn, serving as a spin-off from the 2021 film The Suicide Squad. The show follows Cena’s character, an anti-hero Gunn once described to Deadline as the “world’s biggest douchebag.” The new season seems determined to push that character into even messier territory.
So what actually happened?
The first episode of the new season, titled The Ties That Grind, opens with the aftermath of what Cena calls a “big orgfest.” In the scene, Peacemaker is seen being kissed by both a man and a woman before his teammate Vigilante, played by Freddie Stroma, confronts him about the surrounding chaos. The moment sets a wild tone for the season right from the start.

Cena says he’s game for whatever comes next…
Speaking on a podcast with James Gunn, Cena admitted that the director’s writing no longer surprises him. Thinking about the orgy scene, Cena expected the script to demand much more from him physically. He explained that if he were asked to do anything extreme, “that conversation would go directly to me and the wife and I would beg for permission and forgiveness.”
But the scene wasn’t just for shock value.
As it turns out, the moment was less about sex and more about the character’s broken state of mind. Gunn’s direction was for Cena’s character to be an outsider at his own party.
“James is like ‘no no you just kinda have to be around the orgy because it’s not satisfying you,’” Cena said. He told listeners the scene is designed to show Peacemaker’s return to self-destructive habits as he tries and fails to escape his own reality.
The rest of the season will likely explore these themes further. Peacemaker is now streaming on Max.
