Hollywood Wanted To Change Timotheé Chalamet’s Twink Body – He Said No

The 28-year-old star opened up to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about facing body criticism early in his career. During auditions for films like The Maze Runner and Divergent, casting directors rejected him because of his slim build.

An agent even suggested he should gain weight. But Chalamet stuck to his guns.

“I found my way into very personal movies,” he told Lowe. This led to his breakout role in Call Me By Your Name, which earned him an Oscar nomination. He went on to star in Lady Bird and Little Women.

These smaller films let Chalamet be himself. “This is where I found my rhythm, my confidence, my flow,” he said. His success in these roles opened doors to bigger projects like Dune and Wonka.

Chalamet compared his experience to Bob Dylan’s early days. Dylan couldn’t keep band members because richer kids would hire them away. This connection feels meaningful as Chalamet prepares to play Dylan in A Complete Unknown, coming to theatres this Christmas.

His distinctive looks have become his trademark. On 27 October, nearly 2,000 people gathered in New York’s Washington Square Park for the first Timotheé Chalamet lookalike contest. Fans showed up in top hats and Wonka costumes, competing for a $50 prize. Chalamet himself made a surprise appearance, meeting fans before slipping away.

His success shows that being different can be powerful. By staying true to himself, Chalamet changed minds about what a leading man looks like. Now, as he takes on the role of Dylan, we’ll see yet another side of this authentic talent.
