Openly Gay NFL Pioneer Carl Nassib Endorses Kamala Harris For 2024 Presidential Run
Carl Nassib, who made history in professional American football, shared his support for Vice President Kamala Harris on Instagram. His message reached out to his Pennsylvania followers, a key state in the upcoming election.
Nassib’s roots run deep in Pennsylvania. He played for Penn State Nittany Lions and earned top honours in 2015. His professional career included time with the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Las Vegas Raiders.
In his Instagram post, Nassib wrote about Harris: “She has been a champion for people like me her entire career and her accolades speak for themselves”.
He called for unity regardless of the election results, adding a light note about the end of campaign messages.
On 21 June 2021, Nassib made sports history. He also gave $100,000 to The Trevor Project, supporting youth in crisis. His announcement led to his jerseys becoming the top sellers among all NFL players that day.
The NFL has strict rules about political messages. Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8 stops players from wearing political gear. Yet, some players still express their views, like Nick Bosa who wore a white campaign hat during a recent post-game interview.
Nassib ended his football career in September 2023, but his voice continues to matter in important conversations.
