What seemed like a regular press conference for Mew Suppasit’s new single Absence turned into a moment that changed Asian entertainment forever. The beloved Thai actor and singer got down on one knee and proposed to his partner, fellow actor Tul Pakorn.

A Love Story Years in the Making
The pair kept their relationship private for years. But this summer, they opened up on My AmbuLove, a Thai talk show. Mew spoke about their choice to go public: “I didn’t think I had to prove myself to anyone. But we thought about it a lot.”
The Perfect Proposal
Mew planned it all perfectly. He invited Tul, who stars in his music video, to join him on stage. Then he shared something special with the crowd: “This song is for the person who filled my empty heart. I told the songwriter I wanted a song for my marriage proposal.”
What happened next made everyone cry. Tul, surprised and moved, didn’t just say yes, he got down on one knee, too. “I never thought it would happen so fast,” Tul said, wiping tears. “We haven’t even told my mum yet!”
Perfect Timing
Thailand just made history as Southeast Asia’s first country to say yes to same-sex marriage. The law gets the green light on 22 January 2025, after King Maha Vajiralongkorn approved it on 25 September.
What’s Next for MewTul?
Fans worldwide can’t stop talking about the couple they now call “MewTul”. While we don’t know the wedding date yet, many wonder if they’ll tie the knot right after the law takes effect.
Taiwan and Nepal are the only other Asian countries where same-sex couples can marry. This makes Mew and Tul’s story even more meaningful for many people across Asia.
