Jaime Lorente Shuts Down Homophobes Over Steamy On-Screen Lip-Lock In Netflix Film

Spanish heartthrob Jaime Lorente is turning up the heat and making waves with his latest role in the Netflix film Disco, Ibiza, Locomía. The 32-year-old actor, best known for his iconic performances as Denver in Money Heist and the broody Nano in Elite, fearlessly takes on the part of Xavier Font, the gay frontman of the real-life ’80s Spanish queer pop group Locomía.

But not everyone is ready for the sizzling on-screen chemistry. When a clip of Lorente’s intimate moments with his male co-stars hit the internet, the homophobes came out in full force.

“It surprises me less and less, but it hurts me more,” Lorente fired back in a passionate Instagram post, calling out the flood of negative comments.

He didn’t hold back, boldly telling the haters, “Stop following me, and I don’t give a damn, I don’t care at all. I prefer that you are not on a place like my profile.”

“The amount of homophobic, violent, unpleasant comments is worrying.”

Lorente’s advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community extends beyond the screen. The actor, who’s built a reputation as a vocal ally, wished the trolls “a lot of love” and “a happy life without anyone hating you, or judging you for who you are.”

Director Kike Maíllo echoed Lorente’s sentiments, praising Disco, Ibiza, Locomía for celebrating the queer community and calling it “a movie about everyone, but especially those who were rarely invited to the party.”

The film, set in mid-1980s Spain, follows a group of friends led by Lorente’s Xavier Font as they chase their dreams in Ibiza. Discovered by music mogul José Luís Gil (Alberto Ammann), the boys skyrocket to fame, filling stadiums and revolutionising nightclubs across Latin America – all while concealing their sexuality.

Disco, Ibiza, Locomía is a vibrant tribute to the unapologetically queer legacy of Locomía, who challenged norms with their New Wave beats, extravagant style, and fierce choreography. The film, already released in Spain and Latin America, is set to hit Netflix soon.
