“One Piece” Hottie Mackenyu And Our Appreciation Of Him!
When Netflix dropped their live-action adaption of One Piece, viewers were quick to notice the hunky Mackenyu who plays Roronoa Zoro. The Japanese actor has a few credits under his belt, but this role is likely to launch him on an international scale. Just look at the internet response!
We may be a little late to the party but we’ve arrived!
It was a bold move for Netflix to choose the anime One Piece to make into a live-action series. It has a loyal and long-standing fanbase, it is still releasing new episodes and capturing the right tone of an anime can be tricky when not animated.
The first season released in full on August 31, and we took a little while to get around to watching it but we are sure glad we did! Although critical responses have been mixed, the series has been received well and fans are pleasantly surprised. One thing that it seems everyone can agree on is that Mackenyu makes a HOT Roronoa Zoro.
Perhaps a little less mainstream is the ship between Iñaki Godoy’s Monkey D Luffy and Mackenyu’s Zoro. We know this is far from the source material and the show doesn’t hint at there being anything more than a platonic friendship between these two characters, but these fan edits are certainly helping us to dream:
