After months of anticipation, Red, White And Royal Blue began streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Audiences finally got to see Alex and Henry come to life on-screen and, thankfully, we got to see their sexual chemistry laid bare, too.

Love-making > hookups (Spoilers)

According to Queerty, some straight viewers were surprised to discover that gay men can have sex in the missionary position. One woman took to the social media platform formerly known as Twitter to express her surprise that the two main characters were having sex in the missionary position.

The scene in question shows the first time that Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry had penetrative sex. Up to that point, they had engaged in a lot of playful wrestling and (assumed) oral. One of the greatest strengths of the movie is the palpable chemistry between Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine (Alex and Henry respectively) and the way they portray gay sex as loving and tender.

DNA OPINION

When gay sex is shown in media, it often falls into one of two categories: rough, quick and dirty, or it’s sanitised with a camera pan away and a cut to the next scene. Red, White And Royal Blue doesn’t pan away during the sex scene and it makes sure the moment feels passionate and sensual.

Say what you will about the movie as a whole, they got the sex and chemistry right.
