“Heartstopper” Boys And Our Favourite 60 Images From Capital Pride In Washington

Capital Pride weekend in Washington DC was June 10, and saw the city erupt in a blaze of rainbow colours and progress flags. Dozens of Pride Parade groups made their way through the city’s queer neighbourhood around Dupont Circle, cheered on by thousands of supporters along the parade route.
Surprise guests on the British Embassy In Washington float were the stars of Heartstoppers, Kit Connor and Joe Locke. Kit wore a Chippendales T-shirt – perhaps a cheeky nod to the gym work he’s been undertaking in recent months. Kit wore a T-shirt stating, “Trans Rights Are Human Rights”.
The Parade included floats and walking groups representing trans people, lesbians, the leather community, local gyms and other small businesses, political messages, gorgeous drag queens and sexy twinks, otters and bears.
The Parade was followed by a block party, fireworks at the wharf and the official after-party, Revolution. A pre-Pride party the previous Friday, Riot, at Echostage saw Drag Race queens and local DJs keep the crowd buzzing.
The following Sunday was Fair Day with a free Pride Festival Concert headlined by musical theatre’s Idina Menzel.
The big news for Washington DC is that the city will host WorldPride in 2025 – put that in the diary now! Last weekend’s Pride celebrations prove DC has what it takes to stage a world-class event.
