Daniel Craig’s “Knives Out” Character Is “Obviously Gay”
The 2019 surprise hit Knives Out introduced us to the world of private investigator Benoit Blanc who is played by Daniel Craig. Following the film’s success, writer and director Rian Johnson has announced a sequel titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery where Craig’s character is revealed to be gay, reports Complex.
‘GLASS ONION’ REVEALS BENOIT’S MALE LOVER
Knives Out follows Benoit Blanc (Craig) as he attempts to solve the peculiar death of millionaire mystery novelist Harlan Thrombey. Medium’s review of the film called it the “most brilliant mystery of the decade”. The characters were equally enjoyable and deplorable and Daniel Craig’s suave private investigator was received well by audiences.
According to Complex, Rian Johnson spoke at a press conference in London confirming that Benoit Blanc is, in fact, a queer character. Johnson answered a journalist who enquired whether Craig’s scene with a male lover meant the character is queer by saying, “Yes, he obviously is.”
Elaborating the point, she says, “There’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with.”
The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be available for streaming via Netflix on December 23 and will see the return of Daniel Craig who will be joined this time by Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Madelyn Cline, Dave Bautista, Jessica Henwick, and Kate Hudson.
