Henry Cavill And Jake Gyllenhaal Team Up In Guy Ritchie’s “In The Grey”

Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal are front and centre in the new look at Guy Ritchie’s In The Grey, and the pitch is simple: sharp tailoring, harder stares, and a thriller that knows exactly who it cast. The film opens on 15 May 2026.

Two of the most watchable men in Hollywood, one screen

Cavill plays Sid, a no-nonsense British operative, while Gyllenhaal plays Bronco, his cocky American counterpart. The pair lead a covert team of elite agents sent to reclaim a billion-dollar fortune stolen by a ruthless despot. What starts as an impossible heist spirals into a full-scale war of strategy, deception, and survival. Eiza González rounds out the core trio as their handler, with Kristofer Hivju, Rosamund Pike, and Fisher Stevens also on the cast list.

Ritchie wrote, co-produced, and directed the film, which was shot on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands in late 2023. The project has had a rocky road to release. Originally set for a January 2025 launch through Lionsgate, the studio pulled it when post-production ran over schedule. Black Bear Pictures eventually picked up distribution and locked in the May 2026 date.

Why this one has us paying attention

Cavill has kept a relatively low profile since becoming a father in July 2025. His only recent screen appearance was a brief cameo in Deadpool And Wolverine. In The Grey marks his return to a proper leading role, and the trailer suggests he’s brought his A-game. Gyllenhaal, meanwhile, has been on something of a hot streak, and the buddy dynamic between their two characters gives the film an energy that feels distinctly Ritchie. Think The Gentleman meets The Man From U.N.C.L.E., but cranked up.

At DNA, we’re not going to pretend the biggest draw here is the plot. Cavill and Gyllenhaal are two of the most searched actors among our readership for a reason, and putting them side by side in tactical gear is a choice we fully endorse. Have you seen the trailer?
