Troye Sivan: I Politely Reject The Term ‘Gay Icon’

Openly gay singer and actor Troye Sivan has spoken shared his opinion about being labelled a gay icon.

Now living in L.A, Troye spoke about the limitations he sees within himself when it comes to representing a diverse community.

“I will never understand the struggles of a trans woman of colour growing up,” Troye explained to Wonderland Magazine. “That’s why I politely reject the term ‘gay icon’.

“I would never want to put that on myself.”
