Tony Abbott Would Prefer A Straight Couple To Raise His Gay Sister’s Kids

Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who is the unofficial leader of the no vote against the legalisation of same-sex marriage, has come out saying that his gay sister is traditionally unfit to parent her own children.

“As everyone knows, my distinguished and much-loved sister Chris is on the other side of this argument. Chris has been a very good mother with her partner Virginia, they do a good job, but nevertheless, I’m old fashioned enough to think kids do best with a mother and a father.” Mr Abbott told 2GB drive host, Ben Fordham, during their regular weekly segment. “Certainly, we all need male and female role models in our lives and normally the best male and female role models in our lives are our mother and a father.”

His sister, City of Sydney Councillor Christine Forster, has six children with her fiancée Virginia Edwards.
