The Pilot app allows men to consult a doctor, anonymously, without stepping foot inside a clinic. James Andrews opens the app to find out how it works…
Arriving on the homepage (Pilot.com.au), you are directed to fill out a health questionnaire, targeted specifically towards the issue you are seeking help for. There are also questions regarding your allergies and current medications. You don’t need a Medicare card or number.
Your responses are then sent to one of Pilot’s team of eight Australian doctors, who personally review all of the information. At this point you are billed $20, so it is definitely cheaper than consulting a doctor who doesn’t bulk bill, and definitely more convenient than rocking up to a doctor’s office.
The doctor will respond within 24 hours, through Pilot’s secure and confidential chat-box, to obtain any further information. Then, should you be eligible, the doctor can provide evidence-based treatment plans in line with what your GP would prescribe. And because Pilot has teamed up with a group of pharmacies, you needn’t even leave the house to pick up the prescription. Instead, all prescriptions are sent out in discreet packaging, direct to your door. As stated by co-founder Benny Kleist, “we’ve taken away all the inconvenience and all the embarrassment of a visit to the doctor so there is no excuse.”
Visit pilot.com.au to tackle that physical or mental health concern safely, directly, securely and anonymously.
