Sucking The Fun Out Of Sex

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that untreatable strains of gonorrhoea are on the rise, specifically through oral sex.

According to a report by The Guardian Australia, the latest warning is based on findings from two studies, co-authored by WHO researchers. It found three different cases of gonorrhoea where antibiotics were ineffective. All three lived in different locations Japan, France, and Spain.

Gonorrhoea spreads through unprotected vaginal, oral or anal sex, as well as through the sharing of sex toys that have not been washed properly or covered with a new condom.

“Gonorrhoea is a very smart bug,” described the WHO. “Every time you introduce a new type of antibiotic to treat it, this bug develops resistance to it.”

While the rise is not attributed to any particular cause, taking all safe sex precautions including the use of condoms during oral sex can help reduce the spread of infection.
