To help promote the upcoming YesFest concert on Sunday, October 29, Sir Elton John has recorded a video to encourage Australians to vote Yes for same-sex marriage in the country’s nationwide postal survey. Elton, who married longtime partner David Furnish in 2014, says in the video:

“Will you vote yes? It is a vote for freedom, in a world where freedoms of all kinds have been hard fought and should not be taken for granted.Every individual needs to have their personal freedom and to live their lives as they see fit. We are not asking for anything that is not given freely to the majority of society. Let’s not be an exception here in Australia.”

The concert will feature Jimmy Barnes, Killing Heidi and local gay artists such as Jack Colwell. LGBTQI icons Courtney Act and Jackie Loeb will also be there on the day. All profits from ticket sales go to the Equality Campaign and the concert will be streamed live on YouTube.
