Pro Soccer Star Collin Martin Is Out… Standing On The Field!
Collin Martin is crushing it this season at North Carolina FC, and he’s doing it while being out and proud. According to Outsports, the 29-year-old midfielder packed up his life and moved across the country with his boyfriend Zach. Now settled in their new Raleigh home, Martin’s chasing playoff dreams with his team and living his best gay life.
The Numbers Game
Out of about 5,000 active players in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and MLS, Martin stands alone. “It’s crazy there’s not any out male athlete in the five major league sports in America,” he tells the Football V Homophobia Podcast.
New Home, New Chapter
2024 has been huge for Martin. He’s hit some serious milestones – over 150 USL regular-season games and more than 10,000 minutes of playtime. His boyfriend Zach, a Hyrox fitness athlete, keeps their home running with healthy meals while building his commercial real estate business.
Martin’s not just playing soccer – he’s changing minds in the locker room and inspiring fans in the stands. “I don’t take being out lightly,” he says. He jumped up 30 spots on the Outsports Power 100 list.
With another year on his contract and the playoffs in sight, Martin’s clear about his mission: “I hope to continue to be the out player that we need and show what visibility means.”
