One In Four People Around The World Believe People In Same-Sex Relationships ‘Should Be Charged As Criminals’

A new global study of 77 countries and territories has found that 28% of respondents think people engaging in same-sex relationships should be charged as criminals.

When asked if “people who engage in romantic or sexual relationships with people of the same sex should be charged as criminals” the majority of those who believe homosexuality should be criminalised came from African countries with 45% of respondents, closely followed by 36% of respondents in the Middle East.

19% from the US and Canada combined, 17% from the UK and 15% of respondents from Australia and the same from New Zealand share this view.
