‘No’ Vote Receives Four Times More Media Than ‘Yes’

Analysis of media coverage during the same-sex marriage postal survey has revealed the ‘no’ vote receives far more attention than ‘yes’.

Media monitoring company Streem analysed content from 4,334 news stories across print, online, TV and radio from September 10 to 17, finds mentions of the “no” campaign four times higher.

According to BuzzFeed News, Queenslanders are the least engaged in the debate, making up just 6.1% of the online audience, with New South Wales residents most engaged, making up 53.79% of all online readers, followed by Victoria on 27.99%.

Fairfax media and the ABC published the most article about same-sex marriage, with ABC News Breakfast broadcasting the most content on television.
