Netflix To Reboot Gay Icon She-Ra

Many of us who grew up during the 1970s and ’80s naturally gravitated towards the cartoon series She-Ra: Princess of Power. She was inadvertently a gay icon. Filmation’s Erika Scheimer, daughter of president Lou Scheimer, believed She-Ra was a gay icon due in part to some subversive references made in the series by writers.

Who didn’t feel some sort of attraction to She-Ra’s sidekick, Bow, with is 70’s porn mo, love heart on his uniform and who could forget the episode he wore a dress. It’s about five minutes in on the video below.

The promo poster for the new animated series has been unveiled, with the Netflix website saying that in the ‘reboot of the 80’s series, a magic sword transforms an orphan girl into warrior She-Ra, who unites a rebellion to fight against evil’.

She-Ra is set to launch on Netflix in 2018.
