Meet The Men Of Matador

Comprised of a colorful cast of 14 incredibly skilled performers, MATADOR is an Australian musical theatre production that premiered in Melbourne in February 2019 to rave reviews and a sold-out 10-show run. With upcoming dates in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide between June and August, MATADOR is a celebration of love, acceptance, friendship and the bonds that tie us together.

GERARD PIGG
Gerard is a Melbourne based performer, teacher, mentor and choreographer specialising in various styles including Urban, Heels and Bollywood. The Founder and Creative Director of PROVOKATIV Dance Company, Gerard made his mark as a choreographer and performer creating unforgettable pieces for Melbourne based shows including ‘Signs Of The Zodiac’ and ‘The Ringmaster’. Having worked with the likes of Jessica Mauboy and K-Ci & JoJo, A sassy, dedicated and driven dancer, Gerard slays the MATADOR stage… in nine inch heels! 

LIAM ROODHOUSE 
Liam is a Melbourne dancer who has trained in various genres of dance with a prominent background in ballet which sparked him into a professional career at the age of 15. He continued to train in commercial and musical theatre to become the versatile dancer he is today. Recently appearing on Australia’s “So You Think You Can Dance”, Liam is a tantalising performer with the ability to fouetté his way into any audience’s hearts.

TRO GRIFFTHS 
Tro is a Melbourne based paramedic, aerial artist, contortionist and hand balancer. A gymnast as a child, he now performs his art in fringe festivals, nightclubs, circus tents and theatres in Vancouver, West Hollywood and Melbourne. Tro refines his skills by training at the National Institute of Circus Arts and performs in shows with the Australian Ballet School. A sleek and spellbinding performer, Tro combines the high skill level of contemporary circus with the risqué art of burlesque to deliver something magical and captivating.  

FABIO GARCIA 
Fabio is a passionate, skilled dancer who loves to express his feelings through dance and performance art. His love for dance started from a young age, influenced by legendary artists such as Michael Jackson. Experienced in a number of dance genres such as latin, reggeaton, hip-hop and commercial dance, Fabio performs internationally for a number of high profile venues, events and clients including Dubai Park Resort, The Footy Show at Rod Laver, Viva Carnival at The Palms at Crown Casino and L’Oréal at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. 

TREVOR SANTOS 
An internationally sought-after dancer, teacher and choreographer, Trevor’s accolades include judging the Australian Dance Crew Championships, choreographing for The Australian Open and performed in Australia’s number one Michael Jackson tribute show; The King of Pop Show starring TJ, at both Her Majesty’s Theatre & The Atheneum Theatre. With swag for days and a heart of gold, Trevor is now leading the ‘Melbourne’s Own’ dance movement providing real opportunities for the community to come together to grow and learn.

MARIO ACOSTA-CEVALLOS
Mario has 21 years of dance experience, training in many different dance styles including Spanish flamenco, ballet, jazz, contemporary, salsa, and ballroom. A 9x World Salsa Champion, founder and director of Edmonton based SalsaVitus Dance Company, Mario is an acclaimed dance instructor at LocoMojo Dance Studio in Melbourne. Turning up the heat, this salsa champion is sure to set the MATADOR stage on fire – and a few hearts! 

CHRISTOPHER POLITIS (THE BULL) 
Christopher trained in Melbourne and performed from a young age in a range of different styles including classical, theatrical and Latin styles. Since graduating he has become one of Melbourne’s sought after male dancers, performing in corporate events, TVC’S, film clips, promotions and major theatre productions. A seasoned, skilled performer, Christopher brings the Bull to life in a game of hearts with the MATADOR
